Breathe, Stretch, Shake

Anyone know that song? Anyone? Cool points for you, if you can name it.

I’ve recently been doing a little bit of yoga. I’m by no means close to a yoga-pro, so don’t call me yuppie just yet. I can already tell you, though, that I love the stretching so much. It’s my favorite part. Going through the hard parts (which I sometimes really hate) makes the end stretching so worth it.

I found these images in Real Simple, of course, and I was so drawn to them. They had an article that talked about the importance of stretching and flexibility that made me want to do yoga everyday (wouldn’t that be nice?).

Not only did I want to stretch more after seeing this spread, but now I want to paint these forms. This desire is a little ironic, considering that Life Drawing was one of the hardest classes I ever took. The body is the hardest form to draw.

The lines of these poses are really beautiful; additionally, the photography is rich. I am lover of high contrast, so the darks and lights of this first one, especially, are eye-catching.

Now that you’re inspired, go work on your flexibility. I’m headed to yoga…
