Time with the Girls

I’ve been a busy little bee lately with design work. So busy that I have not had time to update you on my latest buzz, but grateful for the work! Music keeps me going when I have those big blocks of design time (and when I get stressed), so I’ve been listening to a lot lately.

My husband makes fun of my melancholy girl music sometimes, but what can I say? I love it.

Here are some tunes to check out. Some are older; some are newer. All are quality. Start your new playlist now. Chill. Spend some time with the girls.

Florence and the Machine has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. I can’t get enough of her music.

Adele. You are fabulous. You’ll be one of the classic singer-songwriters from my generation. You go girl.

I positively adore this song. It has an MTV Unplugged sound. She might have even played this one on her Unplugged set. I need to check that out…

Cat Power. She’s just so cool. That sums up what I think of her. This CCR remake is stellar. It’s a must-have for your music collection.

Telepopmusik. I like the sound of this band. This song marries an electronic vibe with a dramatic, sweeping and super romantic undertone. Is it weird that it makes me think of the whole Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson situation? Or is that just a sign that I have been watching too much E! News? Sigh…still so sad about those two.

Zero 7. This song is an oldie, but a goodie (circa 2001). There’s something about the sound of this British duo and Sia Furler that just puts me at ease…

You can’t have a girl-tunes party without Fiona, right? She’s a tortured soul, but I’ve always been incredibly impressed with her. She deep, soulful, and yes, sometimes dark. Okay, maybe that last description is an understatement, but she’s talented beyond belief. That’s for certain.
