Branding Spotlight: Art Stories Studio

I was honored to do some initial branding work for Sarah Margaret Wade of Art Stories Studio.
Sarah Margaret is an art therapist and an extremely talented artist, I might add.

I fell in love with the name that she chose for her business immediately. She explains the meaning of Art Stories Studio on her web site in these words:

Individually, we have personal stories of celebrations, hardships, and occasional monotony. Stories contain hope and vulnerability; stories contain disappointments and grief. As stories are told, they connect us with others and bring meaning and a sense of order to life.

One effective way that stories (whether true or make-believe) can be communicated is through art therapy, a gentle and yet powerful therapeutic tool that brings about a deeper understanding of oneself. Art Therapy can prove particularly helpful for those who do not have the words to express thoughts and feelings verbally.

When I asked her for any inspiration that she might have for the logo, she let me view some of her sketch books. I discovered an entire book of doodles and tiny masterpieces and knew that I wanted to use them in the logo.

I took several elements that she had drawn and put them together to tell a “story” of sorts.

I loved the idea of an open book with pages flipping and creativity bursting out…

Sarah Margaret also needed a web site where she could explain her business and blog regularly.

We took a wordpress template and customized it to make it uniquely “Art Stories Studio”…
